About the Source Data Module
The Forest Department under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has direct responsibility to provide source data for 10 SDG indicators. The Forest Department also has responsibility to contribute data for 9 more indicators. This module is designed to be a convenient public resource for finding complete and detailed source and methodological information for specific indicators in one platform. Links are provided to the source data found within the BFIS where available. Some indicators do not have source data generated yet, but they will be added as they become available. The purpose of this module is not to display official statistics or graphs of the indicators, but these can be view in the SDG Tracker
Indicators for which Forest Department has direct responsibility
- Indicator 15.1.1: Forest area as a proportion of total land area
- Indicator 15.1.2: Proportion of important sites for terrestrial and freshwater biodiversity that are covered by protected areas, by ecosystem type
- Indicator 15.2.1: Progress towards sustainable forest management
- Indicator 15.4.1: Coverage by protected areas of important sites for mountain biodiversity

- Indicator 15.6.1: Number of countries that have adopted legislative, administrative and policy frameworks to ensure fair and equitable sharing of benefits
- Indicator 15.7.1 (15.c.1): Proportion of traded wildlife that was poached or illicitly trafficked
- Indicator 15.8.1: Proportion of countries adopting relevant national legislation and adequately resourcing the prevention or control of invasive alien species
